Diagnostic Imaging & Center of Excellence

As the leading healthcare provider in the region accredited by Joint Commission International, Doctors Hospital features state-of-the-art facilities, providing services for Radiology, Mammography, Ultrasound scanning, 16 slice CT scanning, MRI scanning, Nuclear Medicine scanning and Bone Density testing. Consultant Radiologists as well as licensed and certified Technologists staff the Imaging Department using the most advanced digital equipment in the region to produce very high quality results achieving the most accurate diagnosis of a patient’s conditions. These experts are continually training and updating themselves on the latest techniques, not available at other facilities.

RADIOLOGY

Our Radiology department performs all routine x-ray studies and a variety of fluoroscopy studies using digital equipment to produce very high quality exams that are able to reveal injuries, abnormalities and diseases not visible by other means. All results are interpreted by the radiologist and made available to your physician. Routine x-rays require a referral from a local physician.

ULTRASOUND

Doctors Hospital is the leading provider of ultrasound service in the region. Our equipment is state of the art with the latest in real time, color and power Doppler, SonoCT, and 3D scanning capabilities. We are fully equipped to administer virtually any type of ultrasound scan, producing still and live video pictures of internal organs and soft tissue structures of the body. An Ultrasound is typically used to evaluate abdominal pain, or to detect tumors, stones, aneurysms, muscular injuries, cysts, obstructions and infections in the heart, kidney, liver, spleen, gallbladder, scrotum, thyroid or pancreas. The procedure is completely safe and painless.

MAMMOGRAPHY

Our dedicated mammogram unit and strict quality controls allow us to consistently produce the best possible mammograms. We offer breast biopsies, diagnostic digital mammograms, ductograms, needle localization and screening mammograms. A digital screening mammogram consists of two views of each breast and is for patients with no abnormal breast symptoms while a diagnostic mammogram is a problem solving examination done for patients with abnormal breast symptoms. Computer guided fine core needle breast biopsies offer an alternative to surgery. All mammograms and breast imaging tests are done by appointment from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE

The Nuclear Medicine unit specializes in using radioactive material, introduced orally or intravenously, to scan specific parts of the body, A special machine called a gamma camera makes precise images of the necessary body parts that are then evaluated. We are fully equipped to offer high quality brain, bone, liver/spleen, kidney, lung, thyroid, Cardiac SPECT Imaging and Hepato-biliary scans. Nuclear scans are useful in the detection of abnormalities of the body and are often used to determine the need for surgery, and can confirm whether or not a heart attack has occurred. All routine Nuclear Medicine Studies are done on appointment basis only and require a referral from a local physician.

CT SCAN

A CT Scan can detect and image some conditions that regular x-rays cannot, including the visualization of muscles, organs and bones. CT Scans are less invasive and minimize patient discomfort. Doctors Hospital is equipped with a very advanced 16 slice spiral CT unit that produces high quality images in a matter of minutes. Often a CT Scan is used to detect tumors and other abnormalities of the brain as well as monitor a patient’s progress during and after treatment.

MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a procedure that allows us to gather information about your body, through the use of a magnet, radio frequency and a computer. Doctors Hospital is equipped with the most advanced MRI scanner in the region. We are equipped to perform a variety of procedures including Abdomen, Chest/Thorax, Angiogram, Brain, Extremity, MRCP, Pelvis and Spine. The MRI suite, which is situated inside the main hospital, is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. (Test Input).

BONE DENSITY TESTING

The Imaging department offers QCT bone mineral density testing, which is commonly used as a screening tool for Osteoporosis, most prevalent in women. The test is quick and painless, and is usually done on an appointment basis.

EEG/ECG

The EEG/ECG is used in the diagnosis of a variety of neurological problems, from common headache and dizziness to seizure disorders such as epilepsy, head trauma, strokes and degenerative diseases. The EEG/ECG may be ordered to look for organic causes of psychiatric symptoms and learning problems in children. The EEG/ECG can assist physicians in determining cerebral complications and diagnosis. The EEC/EEG department uses electrodes to produce a graphic recording of the electrical currents developed in the brain. At Doctors Hospital, an EEC/EEG is performed by a Registered Technologist.

SAFETY

Our team of medical professionals take every precaution with our patients. You will be asked to remove all jewelry, belt buckles, metal zippers, glasses, coins and any other metal objects from your person and body before your exam. You may eat, drink and take regular medications as usual the day of your exam unless told otherwise by your doctor.

QUALITY

All tests are read by Board Certified Radiologists.
