DOCTORS HOSPITAL DONATION ASSIST

GENTLEMEN’S CLUB TEENS WITH DREAMS OF COLLEGE
____________________________________________________

Originally set up by and for English upper class men in the eighteenth century, and popularized by English upper-middle class men and women in the late nineteenth century, a gentlemen's club is a members-only private club of a type. Today, many countries outside the United Kingdom have prominent gentlemen's clubs.

The Bahamas also has its Gentlemen’s Club, albeit with a slight difference – this club is a club for growth and advancement of young men.  Sponsored by the Bahamas Beautillion Committee, The Gentlemen’s Club is a preparatory organization in which young men participate in workshops, seminars and cultural activities that have beneficial outcomes such as education, career awareness, social awareness, spiritual development and cultural enrichment.

With a scholarship programme aimed at assisting its members to attend University, the Gentleman's Club which initially started in 1992 with just twelve young men has now seen 792 young men pass through the program which has awarded well over three ($3,000,000) million dollars in scholarships thus far. The four month program culminates with the annual gala ball.

Touted as an extraordinary program, the Gentlemen’s Club focuses on the development of young men in the fields of leadership, marketing, etiquette, moral, cultural and spiritual responsibilities and prepares them for the future in terms of setting realistic goals and pursuing those goals. It steers young men into the right direction and allows them to define themselves; to see where they are and where they need to go.

Finances are raised by members through the solicitation of advertisements to appear in the booklets at the Gala Ball. Monies raised go toward scholarships to assist with costs incurred attending university.

Corporate partner, Doctors Hospital, known for its commitment to Bahamian students through its scholarship programme, the Doctors Hospital Dr. Meyer Rassin Foundation, which provides assistance to students in the medical field; and also through its community involvement with numerous free health fairs and public lectures and its donations to various non-profit organizations, recently made a donation to The Gentlemen’s Club in the names of Armando Moss, Jheri Rahming, Thavon Davis, Shaquille Farrington and Elkeno Jones. The donation will go toward scholarships assisting these bright young men to achieve their goals of a college education.

For more information on the Gentlemen’s Club and to forward your donations, please contact the Bahamas Beautillion Committee at judson@coralwave.com or (242) 393-5404.
