DOCTORS HOSPITAL SPONSORS ROTARY CLUB OF SUNRISE READING FAIR
Dated of posted : 2011-03-21

Doctors Hospital is committed to the community in which we serve and when the need arises to lend a helping hand, Doctors Hospital responds enthusiastically to the call.

The Rotary Club of Sunrise Reading Fair is an event geared towards teaching and encouraging kids to read, in essence reading is really a gift. On Saturday March 12, 2011 Doctors Hospital was one of the sponsors for the 5th Annual Rotary Club of Sunrise Reading Fair, which was held at the grounds of The College of Bahamas, Poinciana Drive. The event attracted an estimated crowd of about 1,000 kids from primary schools within the inner city.

For Rotarians, March is recognized as literacy month. Statistics reflect that reading skills are below basic literacy levels and Doctors Hospital being the corporate and responsible citizen, it is imperative that we partner with organizations like the Rotary Clubs to impress upon our kids the importance of knowing how to read, the successes that reading brings and the need to drive this positive message home.

Doctors Hospital is very pleased with the opportunity to be a part of this initiative and show support for literacy in the Bahamas and the Rotary Club of Sunrise Reading Fair.

Rotary is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace around the world.

For anyone wanting to volunteer or assist Project Read, an adult literacy center in the Bahamas, please call (242) 394-2426 or email projectreadbahamas@yahoo.com.
