Registration

Start Your Care the Right Way.
Regardless of which department or service you have an appointment for, your first stop is Patient Registration.

Location:
Main floor of the hospital, east of the volunteer desk.

What You’ll Need:
Admission slip or referral from your attending physician, insurance information, and valid photo ID.

Rehabilitation Patients:
Register at the Doctors Hospital Rehabilitation Center, #9 Collins Avenue.

Contact:

Pre-registration is available only for select areas and services.

What You’ll need:

  • Identification
  • Insurance information (if applicable)
  • Admission slips or request forms from your physician

During pre-registration, your insurance benefits are confirmed with your provider. Emergency patients are registered on arrival. Elective procedures do not require full payment at pre-registration, but deposits must be paid before the date of service.

  • A list of your current medications, with dosage and timing
  • Insurance card and policy information
  • Contact details for your referring or primary care physician
  • Any requested medical reports, radiology, or lab results (especially important for second opinions)

Doctors Hospital has three surgical suites at the main hospital and one operating theatre at Bahamas Medical Center, Blake Road — all equipped for the highest safety standards and best outcomes.

Before Surgery:

  • Your surgeon will book a surgical suite and may request lab tests or anesthesiologist clearance. You will also be contacted to pre-register.

Day of Surgery:

  • After admission, you’ll be escorted to the Recovery Room on the second floor where a nurse will review your health history, explain your procedure, and answer questions. The anaesthesia team will review your health history, discuss anaesthesia options, and coordinate care with your surgeon.

After Surgery:

  • You will return to the Recovery Room until it is safe to be discharged or transferred to a hospital room. If you are having same-day surgery, you will receive written and verbal instructions and prescribed medications before leaving. A staff member will contact you at home after your surgery to check on your recovery.
  • Your immediate family may join you in the Recovery Room once the nursing team has determined it is appropriate.
