Doctors Hospital Health System Statement on Suicide Prevention and Community Support

Share

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Doctors Hospital Health System Department of Mental Health Services is deeply saddened by the recent suspected suicides in our community. Our hearts are with the families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones affected by these tragic losses.

The impact of this extends far beyond individual families, affecting workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and our community as a whole. We recognize that many people may be grieving or searching for answers during this difficult time.

DHHS is committed to providing care for individuals experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or other mental health challenges. Our team offers psychiatric evaluations, counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing treatment to help patients and their families navigate difficult times.

We also recognize that preventing suicide requires a community-wide response. As such, we are willing to work with other healthcare providers, schools, employers, faith-based organizations, and community partners to increase awareness, reduce stigma, improve access to mental health services, and encourage people to seek help early.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Speaking to a trusted family member, friend, healthcare provider, or mental health professional can be the first step toward hope and healing. Help is available, and recovery is possible.
